Plan For Your 2012 Honeymoon Now

2012 is a big year for a lot of reasons. London will of course play host to the 30th Summer Olympic Games, Queen Elizabeth II will enjoy her Diamond Jubilee and according to the Mayan Calendar a new cycle of creation will begin, or as some would have it, the world will come to an end.

However, for some people a more pressing matter is at hand. With the average length of an engagement in the UK standing at 18 months, for prospective newlyweds who decided to become engaged during the summer of 2010, this year could spell the culmination of months of planning and stressful and potentially very expensive preparation. Of course the time that a couple is engaged for is entirely subjective, but one thing is certainly for sure, hundreds of couples the length and breadth of Britain will be tying the knot in the New Year.

It is generally accepted that most of the organizing and arrangement that goes into a wedding is carried out many months or even years in advance, (of course everyone is different) with many couples scouring the landscape for their ideal church and reception venue, caterers, florists and a host of other essential features and services.

As far as I am concerned a honeymoon should not be any different and akin to planning your ceremony putting some serious thought into where you will go to celebrate your new union is a key issue. Thinking about 2012 honeymoons does not have to be a headache though, considering your honeymoon in advance actually promises a variety of benefits, including cheaper prices for early bookings, a better choice of room availability and tours and plenty of time to be able to organise the finer details of your trip.

So where might you consider jetting off to for your 2012 honeymoon? Well the choice is entirely yours and there are several factors you may want to consider before committing to any specific destination or resort. One of the fundamental questions to think about is when you want, or indeed need, to travel. How long after your ceremony you leave for your honeymoon is another variable to contemplate and although tradition may encourage that it takes place within a few days of the wedding, it can in truth be arranged for any period following the marriage.

The time that you travel may also dictate, or in indeed be dictated by your destination. For a honeymoon during the British summer many regions in the southern hemisphere for will be experiencing their off season. Although this period offers couples considerable discounts from peak travel times in some areas such as the Caribbean, tours and room availability may be limited as some resorts actually close during the quieter months from June- August. Peak travel promises a wider variety of activities and property options but also brings the issue of higher prices and extensive crowds, so finding the right balance for you is an important decision. I would personally recommend travelling just either side of the most popular period which promises a happy medium, not too expensive, the weather is still good and the crowds have largely dispersed.

Wherever you go on your 2012 honeymoon make sure that your experience is a special one and an encounter that truly compliments your relationship, whether you are beach bums or thrill seekers find somewhere that can appeal to both of your wants and needs and most importantly have an incredible time!
